Unlikely pairing back in theatres

-

As theatrical re-releases go, they couldn’t be much different, though in both cases their hearts are in the right place. Celebrating its seven-month anniversary, the superhero send-up Deadpool 2 is coming back to theatres as Once Upon a Deadpool, with a Princess Bride vibe that includes a cameo by Fred Savage. The filmmakers have toned down the — well, everything, I guess — to get a 14A rating. Deadpool 2, like the 2016 original, was originally proudly rated R. And $1 from every ticket sold will go to Fudge Cancer, a charity that would clearly like to have an R-rated name as well. Schindler’s List, which just turned 25, and is rated R for very different reasons, is also coming back to cinemas. The 1993 Holocaust drama, directed by Steven Spielberg, had a dozen Oscar nominations and won seven, including best picture and best director. Once Upon a Deadpool opens Dec. 12 in select cinemas. Schindler’s List opens Dec. 7 across Canada.
