Of­fi­cer charged in do­mes­tic dis­pute

Charges have been laid against a Cal­gary po­lice of­fi­cer in re­la­tion to an off-duty do­mes­tic dis­pute six months ago.

On May 28, 2018, the con­sta­ble, who was on leave for an un­re­lated mat­ter, was in­volved in a do­mes­tic dis­pute in Air­drie. Af­ter­ward, he al­legedly stole a ser­vice firearm from a se­cure locker in a dis­trict of­fice.

Po­lice were called by a friend con­cerned for his wel­fare.

On Fri­day, the man was charged

with break and en­ter, theft, pos­ses­sion of a pro­hib­ited or re­stricted firearm and breach of re­cog­ni­zance. He was pre­vi­ously charged with fraud and as­sault.

The name of the ac­cused was not re­leased.
