Teen dead, two in hospital after crash

Officials say a teenage girl is dead after a serious head-on collision east of Black Diamond.

Mounties from the Turner Valley detachment were called to a stretch of Highway 7 just east of Black Diamond, around 65 kilometres southwest of Calgary, on Friday for reports of a collision just after 3:30 p.m.

Police said a car driven by a 17-year-old girl collided with an SUV, and EMS spokespers­on Jeff Walker said the teen was pronounced dead on the scene.

A passenger, 17 was taken by ambulance to a Calgary hospital in serious condition, while a STARS air ambulance transporte­d the female driver of the SUV to hospital, also in serious condition. Police said a third vehicle was also involved in the collision. The occupants were treated for minor injuries.
