ABOUT THAT TEXT LAST NIGHT ...

- Maggie Parkhill

You may have sent a text you shouldn’t have after one drink too many, but have you ever sent one after one snooze too many? A recent survey by the University of Villanova found that 25 per cent of college students polled said they had texted someone in their sleep. Of those students, 75 per cent said they did not remember sending the text in the morning.

“Anecdotally, college age students who sleep text report that most of their messages are gibberish or nonsensical responses to questions,” write the authors of the report.

Though researchers say the result is “more embarrassing than dangerous,” it does indicate that notifications on your phone may be interrupting your sleep.

To avoid a restless slumber — and an embarrassing text — turn your phone off at night or keep it well out of reach.
