Two charged after police seize meth and cocaine
Calgary police say two people have been charged in connection with the seizure of more than 12 kilograms of drugs, most of it methamphetamine.
An investigation was launched in October when the gang enforcement team identified two homes and two vehicles believed to be involved in a drug trafficking operation based in Calgary, police said in a news release Tuesday.
On Dec. 4, two men were seen exchanging items in the Sunridge Mall parking lot. The men were arrested and their vehicles were searched.
Officers then searched a home in the 100 block of Coral Shores Cape N.E. and a residence in the 900 block of 17th Ave. S.W.
In the searches of the vehicles and homes, police seized 10 kg of methamphetamine, 2.4 kg of cocaine, 504.8 g of fentanyl, 42.3 kg of phancetin and $75,405 in cash.
Domenico Loiacono, 27, is charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
Richie Ramudit, 26, is charged with four counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Police say the investigation is also linked to an ALERT investigation in Medicine Hat, which led to the seizure of nearly half a kilogram of methamphetamine on Nov. 14.
