WOMAN PUT OFF DATE ON THE DAY TOURIST KILLED

-

A woman has said she was due to go out on a date with the suspect in the Grace Millane murder case on the night of the British backpacker’s death. Jesse Kempson, 26, appeared in court Monday over the murder of the 22-year-old.

The woman said she was in contact with Kempson for six months through a dating app and had been scheduled to meet him on Dec. 1, but had to postpone.

Millane, who had been travelling in New Zealand, went missing that night and was last seen allegedly in the company of Kempson at a hotel.

The 30-year-old woman, who said she did not want to be named, said she had been due to meet Kempson and wondered why he had not been in touch.

“I’m quite upset,” the woman said, after police told her what had happened. “Obviously angels were watching over me.”
