Banff RCMP look for purse thief

Mounties in Banff are looking for a Christmas Grinch who stole a number of purses to go on an illegal shopping spree.

Between Dec. 2 and 10, RCMP said a man entered businesses and stole wallets and purses from areas accessed by the public, and others restricted to employees.

Mounties allege the man used credit cards from the stolen wallets to purchase items in both Banff and Canmore. They said the man insisted purchases by credit card be made in increments less than $100 to utilize the cards’ tap feature. The man is described as Caucasian, 30 to 40 years old and around five-feet-nine-inches tall.
