ROOM TO STRETCH OUT

TriCo development Built for fAmilies

- MARTY HOPE

The design people at Trico Homes went all out in the creation of their first show home for its entry into one of the city ’s newest neighbourhoods.

The two-storey Kennedy II has just over 1,000 square feet of mainfloor space, topped with another 1,400 square feet on the upper floor — space enough for a growing family, extended family or multigenerational family.

The various spaces in the Trico home in Carrington South by Apex are large — made to look even larger through the open-concept design and large window areas on both floors.

“There are a lot of features for those shopping for a larger home,” said Trico sales associate Tanya Durkic. “Big rooms, unique touches and the open-concept design are the biggest features partly because it makes entertaining easier.”

And big starts with the kitchen, which is huge with plenty of cabinetry. An option to the kitchen design offers even more cabinetry through the reworking of the pantry, island and half-bath. Countertops are quartz and the full-height backsplash is patterned ceramic tile.

The central island measures four feet wide by eight feet long, sits three comfortably, holds the dishwasher and yet more cupboard space. All appliances are stainless steel. The dining nook has a window wall and door leading to the rear deck. The adjoining great room has yet another window wall and a ceramic-faced fireplace with a richly stained mantel.

A flex area, which in the Kennedy II is finished as a formal dining area, is delineated by four pillars.

A carpeted stairway opens onto a large second-floor bonus room with an open-to-below area looking into the foyer.

Through the bonus room and at the rear of the home is the master suite with carpeted bedroom area that measures nearly 225 square feet.

The spacious ensuite is shown with a stall shower, long vanity with twin sinks and a makeup area and a soaker tub with tile surround and knick-knack shelving at both ends.

Going through the bonus room again and toward the front of the home are a laundry room with side-by-side washer and dryer, the main bath with tub/shower and two smaller bedrooms.

The second floor also provides an option for a fourth bedroom by redesigning the bonus room and relocating laundry to another area on the upper floor.

“We’ve worked to make this home flexible enough for families of all sizes and lifestyles,” said Durkic.
