Night pedestrians should wear lights

-

It is dark from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. It is dark when people are going to and from work. Drivers can be blinded by oncoming headlights and all vehicles must have their lights on when it is dark.

As a safety precaution, pedestrians should have some sort of light or reflective bands on when they are out walking. I see people dressed in black from head to toe and they are barely visible. It’s only common sense that people should want to stand out. You can buy small clip-on lights for a few dollars, and these could go a long way to keeping pedestrians safe and alerting vehicles to their presence. I have seen dogs with collars that light up. If lights on a vehicle are required to keep vehicles safe, it only makes sense to light-up pedestrians. Judith Willis, Calgary
