The Calgary Roughnecks have locked up the top player in lacrosse for the next two seasons. The National Lacrosse League champions announced Tuesday they have signed 32-year-old forward Dane Dobbie for another two years.

Dobbie was the league’s MVP after a 47-goal, 115-point campaign to lead the Riggers to the NLL crown.

“I can’t express how happy and excited I am to be back in Calgary for my 13th season,” Dobbie said. “The Roughnecks are a fantastic organization, and we have the best fans in the league. I’m just thrilled that I get to put on the Roughnecks jersey for another two years.”

The 2019 National Lacrosse League MVP has played all of his 13 NLL seasons with the Roughnecks.

Dobbie, a product of Elora, Ont., led the league with 115 points in 2019, a career-high for the 32-yearold veteran. He continued to dominate the scoresheet in the post-season, being named the NLL Finals MVP after tallying a league-leading 12 goals, including five on the power play, and 14 assists.

Dobbie, who was named to an allpro team for the second time, was selected by the Roughnecks in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft.

During his career, the 2019 NLL MVP has amassed 418 goals and 866 points in 178 games, setting franchise records for most goals, assists and points.

“We’re excited to have Dane continue his career as a Roughneck,” said Roughnecks GM Mike Board. “Along with his exciting offensive skills, he’s a tremendous leader in the dressing room. During his 12 seasons with the Roughnecks, Dane has become a prominent figure, both within the organization and in the community.”
