At least that’s the aim of Canadian leather goods brand Voylan.

The Toronto-designed, Italy-made creations last, and look good while doing it.

Milica Kostic, the brand’s founder, recently chatted with Postmedia News about the line, what makes it different and the idea of creating bags with purpose.

Q What is Voylan?

A Voylan is a high-quality leather goods brand with a commitment to timeless and functional designs. Voylan specializes in handbags that are elegant, sophisticated and practical for everyday life.

Q Is there a story behind the name?

A The inspiration for the brand came from my experience working as a management consultant. I spent years travelling domestically and globally on a weekly basis and realized that there was a significant need for high-quality handbags that are both functional and appropriate to take from day to night. Since the idea originated from my lifestyle and love of travel, I decided to make the name one that would be meaningful to me and took inspiration from my favourite travel quote: “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Following that logic, I went on to name each design after a city that I had worked in, aiming to capture the essence of these incredible destinations.

Q What makes it different from other accessories brands?

A In an era dominated by fast fashion and seasonal trends, our mission is to provide a classic, go-to alternative with sophisticated designs and colours that never go out of style. Although our priority is simple elegance, at Voylan we do not compromise on functionality. Bringing back Old World luxury and quality is key, which is why all of our leather and products are made in traditional Italian tanneries and workshops.

A The company is based out of Toronto, where the design and operational work is conducted, while all of our products are made in Tuscany, Italy.
