Spirit of gratitude at Jingle Bell Mingle for the prostate cancer centre

- BILL BROOKS

There’s no doubt 2019 has proved challenging for the not-for-profit sector. So, too, for the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC), which relies solely on donor dollars and events to provide the invaluable services it does. The centre receives no government funding. Yet the spirit of gratitude was ever-present at the PCC’S recent Jingle Bell Mingle held Dec. 12.

Scores of the centre’s clients, board members and volunteers gathered for the seasonal celebration and to give thanks to the amazing staff and docs who have made such a tangible difference to so many. And mere weeks prior, the wonderful folks at Remington Development Corporation hosted their own reception at the centre to thank those who ensure the annual Remington Golf Classic has been the enormous success it has.

The tournament has raised more than $4 million for the centre since inception 12 years ago. Befitting indeed then that Remington was honoured with pride of place and its own plaque on the million-dollar donor wall.

Guests in attendance at either the Remington reception and/ or the Jingle Bell Mingle included: PCC executive director Pam Heard with colleagues Linda Macnaughton, Eva Moreau, Shannon de Vall, Ken Rabb and Thiloma Hofer; PCC board chair Jon Truswell with fellow board members David Ferguson, Rick Lancaster, Nipa Chakravarti, Dr. Shelley Spaner and Cody Clayton; Randy Remington; Mike Wilson; Ryan Remington; Dave Routledge; Carl Cheverie; Bob Spence; Jamie Cooper; Brian and Heather Fenske; Don Bayrack and Dorothy Sellars; Michelle Gindl; Carolyn Miller, Fran Copithorne; Bas Wheeler; and Darrel Janz.
