SHOW HOME SPARKLES
Emerald makes most of space
For a single person or couple who enjoy hosting get-togethers with friends and family, an award-winning condo in northwest Calgary offers the right mix.
The one-bedroom Emerald shines with inviting social spaces, a thoughtful use of square footage, and plenty of sunlight.
This condo — demonstrated as a show suite at Sage Hill Park by Brad Remington Homes — earned industry acclaim earlier this year. It captured the trophy for Best New Design — New Community,up to 599 square feet at the (BILD) Building Industry and Land Development Calgary Region Awards, announced in April.
It’s 574 square feet, but designed to feel significantly larger. This starts with its gathering spaces. Under a nine-foot ceiling, the kitchen and great room are ideal for entertaining.
It’s easy to imagine the host and guests circulating between its large L-shaped kitchen and great room, which are connected through an open-concept design.
Measuring 13 feet 11 inches by eight feet one inch, the great room can support multiple pieces of furniture and is a welcoming space in which to gather for a glass of wine or board game with friends.
It sits against substantial sliding glass doors that reel in plenty of natural light and open to a
53-square-foot balcony.
The kitchen has an optional island with an eating bar that seats three people, creating another space to gather and chat. It sits beneath elegant pendant lighting. Cabinets with soft-close doors and drawers are available in six styles. Counters come in granite or quartz.
Covering the great room and kitchen is stylish and durable luxury vinyl plank flooring.
At 12-foot-two by nine feet, the bedroom is also well-sized. It connects to a spacious walk-through closet, which leads to a full bathroom.
The bathroom, which has contemporary chrome hardware, is accessed from the open-concept entertaining space.
The show suite displays noticeable distance between the bed and access to the closet. With this gap, a person who gets up before their partner is able to go through their morning routine without being a disruption.
With a connected closet and bathroom, there’s a fluid space in which to start one’s day. The show suite presents the closet with shelves and drawers, making it easy to organize a wardrobe.
The bedroom has plush carpet with a stain guard and an eightpound underlay.
Just off the entrance to the condo is a laundry area with a stacked front-load washer and dryer. It includes additional space that can be used for storage.
From the exterior, Sage Hill Park catches eyes with brick and James Hardie siding. Its site in the scenic Symons Valley corridor is near a ravine, ponds, and wide pathway.
Residents are also a quick drive to Creekside Shopping Centre, anchored by a Co-op, and Sage Hill Crossing with a Loblaws City Market and a Walmart Superstore.
