It’s no secret that video games are an integral part of today’s society.

Jimmy Chau, a.k.a. Orange Juice, just wants to make gaming a more rewarding experience.

Chau, a graduate of Lester B. Pearson High School, runs a gaming channel on Youtube that specializes in strategy. His channel boasts about 1.5 million subscribers, making him one of the foremost experts on a wide variety of games.

His talent surfaced at an early age.

“I’ve always had a passion for video games,” said the 30-yearold Chau. “Instead of doing homework, I was playing games. I ended up being really good.

“One day, I was with my friend and he was telling me how I should share my passion with the world. I had no idea. I thought, there’s no one who’s going to want to watch my videos. But the first one I posted, it got 10,000 views, something crazy. It really exploded.

“I didn’t think anyone would care to listen to me. It turns out everyone really likes to learn from what I do.”

It’s now been almost four years and Chau doesn’t take his responsibility lightly.

“I work 365 days a year,” he said. “I work in here from 60 to 100 hours a week to build everything together. It’s more than just me. Behind the scenes, there’s a full camera crew, we have a studio, editing. I would say there is between three and six of us, some full-time, some part-time.”

And the nickname?

“It goes back to when we first started,” he said. “We were going skiing every day and I just drank orange juice on the way to the mountains. I didn’t think this channel was going to explode. I looked around, asking, ‘What are we going to name ourselves?’ I looked at the table, there was a cup of orange juice left over, I said we’ll call it orange juice, we’re not going to overthink it.”

Chau says he’ll continue to improve and put the best content out there.

“If I can make one person smile,” he said, “that’s it.”
