ONE GOOD THING

-

A B.C. teenager who survived a 150-metre fall near the top of Oregon’s Mount Hood was a seasoned mountaineer who had climbed close to 100 peaks. But this time, the teen fell from a section of the mountain known as the Pearly Gates — a highly technical icy chute that is the last major section of the climb before the summit — down to the Devil’s Kitchen. The 16-year-old broke his leg and damaged his helmet but avoided other major injuries.
