REDSTONE GEM OFFERS SPACIOUS ADVANTAGE
The Pearl’s extra width brings roomy dimensions to comfortable family home
When families look for a home that will accommodate their needs for the long haul, the children’s bedrooms are an important consideration.
Cosy secondary sleep spaces are suitable for many families, especially when their children are in their earlier stages of life. But if the plan is to put down roots and make it their home for the next decade, the adolescents or teenagers in the family may need something more substantial.
The Pearl by Trico Homes is designed to be that long-range fit. This 1,720-square-foot, frontdrive model is part of its Gems Series in the northeast Calgary community of Redstone.
One of its secondary bedrooms is 13 feet six inches by 10 feet and the other is 13 feet five inches by 10 feet five inches. In both cases, these dimensions exceed the average for spaces of this kind.
Theses bedrooms sit side by side. The larger of the two has a walk-in closet.
The master bedroom covers the entire rear wall. It has a deep walk-in closet and an ensuite with a shower and dual vanities.
The second floor also has a full bathroom, spacious laundry room with a front-load washer and dryer, and bonus room with a window that overlooks the front yard.
One of the ways in which this layout accommodates these generously sized spaces is through its larger-than-average overall width.
Front-drive single-family homes are commonly 24 to 26 feet wide and on 32- to 34-foot wide lots. This is 28 feet wide on a 36-foot wide lot. This uptick is felt on multiple ends of the home.
The conventional main floor orientation puts two of the kitchen, great room, and dining area along the back wall, and the other in a central location. This home, however, is wide enough for all three spaces to line up along the back wall, in an open-concept design.
As a result, the home’s key social spaces all receive plenty of sunlight. It’s also a seamless space in which to host gatherings with friends.
In this home, a great deal of consideration is given to the needs of the domestic chef, with two cooking spaces.
The primary kitchen is U-shaped, features an island, full-height backsplash, and stainless-steel appliances, including a chimney-style hoodfan. This attaches to an enclosed supplementary cooking space, commonly dubbed a spice kitchen. This is an option for this floor plan and displayed in the show home.
The purpose of the spice kitchen is to restrict aromas from cuisines with strong flavours from drifting to and lingering in other ends of the home.
It also hides the mess created from preparing complex dishes, which can be especially appealing when guests are over.
The spice kitchen includes an oven, counter space, and cabinets.
The Pearl is one of six show homes in Trico’s Gems Series in Redstone.
Redstone, master-planned by Qualico Communities, and accessed off Metis Trail, boasts more than 2.3 kilometres in pathways, an array of inviting park space, including some with outdoor fitness equipment.
The community is a less than a 10-minute drive from Crossiron Mills mall and an adjacent Costco.
