Irony of Trudeau’s lobby for UN seat
The federal and provincial governments’ handling of protests has shown fear. Fear of aggravating the protesters into more volatile action, fear of how the world will view the actions, fear to exercise sovereignty.
History shows fear results in emboldening aggressors. It sets the scenario for never-ending rail blockades to protest any cause deemed worthy by any group.
It’s ironic that we have such a difficulty in exercising our sovereignty in our own country and yet we are trying to get a prominent role in a world body (UN) that is influenced by countries that have no qualms about exercising their own.
