Police inaction benefits protesters

Police forces should not look at the blockades as a no-win situation. They are paid to enforce the laws, not to play politics.
Their inaction benefits protesters, and permits blockades to expand in number and size.
We are learning that a small minority can hold a country hostage. That minority can block important infrastructure with impunity, and force politicians to talk to them as equals.
Police forces will sit idle, waiting for some kind of leadership from politicians who can’t provide it.
