Proud of school community
I am in awe of the incredible transformation that has taken place at Columbia College since March 15 when the provincial government announced that classroom delivery would cease immediately in our universities and colleges.
As our students, faculty and staff witnessed, we moved immediately to prepare plans to start delivering distance education within a matter of four days to our more than 1,000 classroom-based students. Our IT team put a structure in place, harnessed technology, and did internal training. At the same time, HR policy was researched, drafted, and approved to enable a large per cent of our team to work safely from home. The speed of change was incredible and yet morale remained high, with everyone’s energy focused on making the right decisions in the best interest of our students and fellow team members.
This was an amazing feat for any organization, and it was done in a professional and compassionate manner that engaged all members of our college community. I am so very proud to be a member of this organization.
