What are smaller countries doing to alleviate overflowing hospitals?
In the Netherlands, the Ahoy concert hall in Rotterdam that normally hosts large concerts, trade fairs and international sports events and should have hosted the Eurovision song contest in May is now being turned into an emergency hospital with up to 680 beds. These will be for people with the coronavirus or other illnesses who need care but do not have to be admitted to a hospital. Hotels are also being used across the Netherlands, which has a population of 17 million people. By Monday, there were 11,750 confirmed coronavirus infections, with 864 deaths.
