STAMPS IN WAITING MODE

- Danny Austin

There’s not much the Calgary Stampeders can do except wait at this point.

On Monday morning, the CFL announced that it would be delaying the start of training camps, which had originally been set to open as early as May 11.

When contacted, the Stampeders organization didn’t have much to add. If and when the 2020 CFL season starts is in the hands of the government and public health officials. The CFL will be taking its lead from them, and the Stampeders will do the same.

Last week, Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell spoke with TSN about the possibility training camp might be pushed back.

“It almost seems like a bit of a blessing in disguise if something might get pushed back, season-wise,” said Mitchell, who had shoulder surgery in December. “Guys that did get off-season surgeries or are rehabbing, they’re trying to fight to get back to that Week 1, so right now I’m just trying to go as hard as I can in rehab.”
