Offer buyouts, not layoffs

-

The number of City of Calgary employees past the normal age of retirement is a symptom of bad fiscal management at city hall.

Before we go laying off hundreds of employees, why not offer a buyout to the over 60-years-old staff members.

This would clear the way for young people who will be staying in the staff ranks for 20 to 30 years.

Is there no one at city hall who sees this as an opportunity to retain young talent.

There are hundreds of people who should be offered a package and let them step aside for the betterment of this city.
