ONTARIO ALLOWS TEAMS TO TRAIN
The doors will be open to the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs when the NHL allows them to return to the rinks. Lisa Macleod, Ontario’s minister of Heritage, Sport and Tourism, confirmed Friday morning that professional sports teams across the province can return to their facilities for training. “Beginning today in Ontario, professional sport training facilities will be permitted to reopen, provided their respective sports leagues have established health and safety protocols in response to COVID-19,” Macleod said in a statement. Though the Raptors will return to their facility on Monday, the Senators and Leafs will have to wait until they get the green light from the NHL. “It means t hey can reopen when we allow all teams to reopen,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, pictured, told Postmedia in an email Friday morning.
