Post office issues artistic stamp

Canada Post is celebrating the centennial of the Group of Seven’s first exhibit with a new stamp series featuring works by its founding members: Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A.Y. Jackson, Frank Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J.E.H. Macdonald and Frederick Varley. The art collective debuted more than 120 paintings on May 7, 1920, at what was then the Art Gallery of Toronto. CBC reports that in further efforts to honour the painters, the Mcmichael Canadian Art Collection will partner with Google to digitize up to 200 of the group’s works.
