Kenney backs bid from Oilers
Premier Jason Kenney said he has written a letter to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman expressing his support for the Edmonton Oilers’ bid to host NHL games this summer.
Previously, the premier was noncommittal about an idea to host NHL games without fans in Edmonton.
But after several months of data showing the numbers of COVID -19 cases are low in Edmonton, he appears to be warming to the idea.
Kenney said the Rogers Centre is ideally suited for audience-free games, with a hotel attached to the arena where players could stay.
