Academy may postpone Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is considering postponing the Oscars ceremony currently scheduled to air Feb. 28, 2021 on ABC. “It’s likely they’ll be postponed,” a source told Variety, but noted details haven’t yet been proposed or discussed. Another source said the date remains unchanged at ABC. In April, new temporary rule changes for Oscar eligibility were announced, allowing films that were released digitally this year to qualify if the studio had originally planned a theatrical release.
