A Cats (both do­mes­tic and wild) and dogs have been in­fected, and now Dutch au­thor­i­ties con­firm that a worker on a mink farm has a par­tic­u­lar strain of the minks’ virus. At the two farms where the ini­tial out­break oc­curred, 2.4 per cent of mink died in one and 1.2 per cent in the other. Cats may have trans­mit­ted the virus be­tween the farms. Mink farm­ing was banned in the Nether­lands in 2013, but ex­ist­ing farms can stay op­er­a­tional un­til 2024.
