Celtic show streams on Broadway site

-

Created in Calgary, Celtic Illusions was on its Canadian tour when COVID-19 hit. It had to cancel its last three dates and its extensive Australian tour was scrapped. Now, the unusual pairing of magic show and modern Irish dance has been filmed and is streaming on a new Broadway on Demand site that just launched. It premiered Friday but is available for streaming on the site. Calgary producer

Jeff Parry said putting the show online allows them to virtually tour at a time when it otherwise isn’t possible. “We also like the Broadway company, and we are keeping on the Broadwayondemand.com platform as we plan for post COVID-19 Celtic Illusion live performances in New York and elsewhere.”

The show combining magic and grand illusions with Irish dance includes performers from both renowned Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. It’s led by Anthony Street, the first Australian to perform the leading role in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance. “Before I was a dancer, my great passion was magic and illusion, but when I worked with Lord of the Dance for four years beginning when I was 20, magic got pushed to the side,” said Street. “When I decided to create this show in Australia, it dawned on me that I should combine my two passions to give audiences a new sensory experience.”
