- Driving.ca

The race to cheaper and more efficient EV batteries continues. Tesla took an early lead as it prepares its million-mile battery with China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. and some industry leaders. But General Motors has been keeping pace, and may be gaining. GM official Doug Parks told Reuters that GM was also “almost there” with its own million-mile battery. Today ’s most advanced batteries generally last 100,000 to 200,000 miles. According to Green Car Reports, GM is already working on more advanced batteries than the recently announced Ultium units, which will power some of Honda’s e-vehicles.
