Police probe downtown shooting

Calgary police investigated a Beltline shooting Sunday that sent one man to hospital.

Police responded to the 1500 block of 12 Avenue S.W. after multiple reports of gunshots around 4 p.m.

The victim, described only as an adult male, was taken to hospital and was in stable condition.

Police had multiple suspects in custody but said they weren’t ruling out the possibility that the shooter was still at large. They would not comment on any connection between the victim and suspects.

The heavy police presence at the scene saw almost a dozen emergency vehicles in the area, including police cars, ambulance and fire responders.

Two weekends ago, Calgary experienced two shootings within 45 minutes.

A man suffered a gunshot wound on May 15 in the 5500 block of Centre Street N., and within the same hour, another shooting — this one in the 500 block of Rundleview Place N.E. — sent two men to hospital.

All the victims were in non-life-threatening condition. Arrests have been made in that case.
