EXTRATERRESTRIAL EXERCISING

- Melissa Hank

Exercise can help build a healthier heart and stronger body. But sometimes you need extra motivation — like, say, an alien invasion — to get your blood pumping.

That’s the thinking behind the audio-based fitness app Apocalypse Survival Training. It’s built on storytelling elements, putting you in an alternate reality in which aliens are invading Earth and you’re a secret agent who must help stop them. Each “episode” is a fitness routine that matches the story’s theme.

“I hope we can flip the mindset of people who think they hate exercise — or specific types of exercise, like running, or circuit training, or stretching — by showing them that it can be fun,” the app’s creator Adele Andersen, shown, told Metro. Apocalypse Survival Training is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.
