838 South Korea, which has been successful in containing the virus, closed hundreds of schools that had reopened days earlier and postponed opening others after a spike in cases. Of 20,902 schools that were supposed to reopen last Wednesday, 838 did not. In late February, South Korea had more diagnosed patients than any country other than China, but implemente­d a tough program of contact tracing, isolation and other measures. It still reports that fewer than 300 people have died

of COVID-19.
