TRUMP STRONGLY HINTS AT PARDON FOR STONE
WASHINGTON U.S. President Donald Trump strongly hinted Thursday at a pardon of friend and longtime political adviser Roger Stone, who has been ordered to report to prison later this month. Trump said Stone was the “victim of a corrupt and illegal Witch Hunt.”
Trump’s comments on Twitter came in response to a tweet by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who complained that Stone. pictured, would be serving more time in prison than “99 per cent of these rioters destroying America,” a reference to protests in the wake of the death in police custody of Minneapolis man George Floyd.
A jury convicted Stone in November of lying during testimony to the House Intelligence Committee to conceal his central role in the Trump campaign’s efforts to learn about Democratic computer files hacked by Russia and made public by Wikileaks to damage Hillary Clinton.
