Support and Buy Local: Postmedia launches online auction in support of local businesses
To help support local businesses during the COVID-19 crisis, Postmedia is launching the Support and Buy Local Auction, a special online event from June 22-29.
The auction will provide businesses the opportunity to sell their products and services through Calgary’s most trusted media network — at a time when investment is needed but cash flow is limited.
Businesses can put items from their existing inventory up for auction. In return, Postmedia will provide the full retail value of all items sold toward future advertising, regardless of the winning bids.
“As we have heard from our trusted health care officials, Alberta appears to be benefitting from the dramatic measures taken by the public to stem the spread of this virus,” says Dean Jager, director of integrated advertising sales at Postmedia Network Inc. in Calgary.
“We are gradually moving toward a new normal, but in the meantime we still need genuinely creative solutions to help businesses recover from the ongoing and lasting impacts of the pandemic.
“Our online sale strategy has proven to be highly effective in the past because our network is a powerful vehicle for e-commerce.
“This is our way to get through this pandemic together, by offering our services to all our incredible partners.”
The auction will not only provide a platform for businesses to reach their established customer base, but it will also extend their reach to new audiences, as the event will be promoted extensively online and in print through the Calgary Herald and Sun.
Customers will have the opportunity to support local businesses by bidding on a wide range of products and services at deep discounts. Past Postmedia sales have included a range of goods, from travel packages to furniture and automobiles to jewelry.
The Support and Buy
Local Auction begins at noon on June 22 and will be open until 8 p.m. on June 29.
All items will be displayed and bids placed on a dedicated Postmedia website.
Bids will be accepted throughout the duration of the auction, with winners announced after its close.
