Build Green Line later if needed

-

It seems impossible for our mayor to be realistic about wish lists, escalating costs and therefore more taxes to come. The Green Line LRT project has been talked about for all 30 years I’ve owned a house in Calgary. The group(s) now calling for it to be rethought deserve more than unpleasant rebuffs from the mayor. The financial situation is bad enough without additional billions spent unwisely and in service of the downtown, arguably a possible employment dead zone for years to come.

Let’s stop piling on niceties we can’t afford. The mayor’s displeasure with other opinions and council members representing fiscal control is unjustified. Stop trying to herd everybody and start being more pragmatic about the reality we are in. If we need the Green Line in the future, we can build it then.
