Green Line is no longer affordable
With Calgary’s economic future so dire, I am shocked to see that eight councillors are actually in favour of this multi-million-dollar boondoggle.
The Green Line was proposed when Calgary had a prosperous future. It no longer has, yet city councillors are still sticking to this costly pipe dream. The pandemic has shown that working-from-home works.
In fact, one of our neighbours told me that his company has gone from four expensive floors in downtown to one because so many will continue to work remotely.
Mayor Nenshi keeps splitting hairs about who pays what, i.e., the city, the province, the federal government. But he forgets that there is only one taxpayer. I was hoping Councillor Farkas would bring some fiscal sanity to the table, but I see even he is “undecided.”
