Cabaret drops out of ATP season
The bar is closed at Berlin’s Kit Kat Club. The Tony Award-winning play Cabaret, which was to close out Alberta Theatre Projects’ 2020-21 season in April, will not tour this year. The Grand Theatre postponed the entire tour of its production due to COVID -19 closures and safety measures. ATP is now looking at what other changes to the 2020-21 season are needed “to ensure the safety of everyone creating and viewing the art performed on stage,” said executive and artistic director Darcy Evans. Subscriptions for the 2020-2021 season are now on hold until adjustments to programming are determined and announced in the coming weeks. Those already purchased will be honoured in full. ATP is asking theatregoers to complete a survey providing feedback on what measures are necessary to feel comfortable in returning to the theatre. The survey, at albertatheatreprojects.com/survey, is open until the end of June.
