AJHL planning for 2020-21 season, awaits green light
The plan is to go ahead with a 57th AJHL season when possible. The Alberta Junior Hockey League’s board of governors decided the puck will be dropped for the 2020-21 campaign when provincial health regulations allow it.
The usual start date for the Junior
‘A’ loop is early September. If there’s no green light from Alberta authorities for such a start, the league will adjust its regular season.
“The league will announce a tentative schedule, which includes a modified schedule, in early July alongside contingency plans for a delayed season start,” said a statement at ajhl.ca.
“The 14th annual AJHL Showcase, originally scheduled for Sept.
24-26, 2020 in Camrose, has been postponed with a desire to host the event in the second half of the 2020-21 season.”
The Calgary Canucks and the Okotoks Oilers are among the 15 member teams of the AJHL.
