-

Landmark Cinemas is moving ahead with its plans to reopen three Calgary theatres this week. Landmark’s Market Mall, Country Hills and Shawnessy theatres will reopen Friday, while the rest of its locations in Alberta and

B.C. will open July 3, it said in a news release Monday.

The theatres will start by showing classic movies including Jurassic Park, Jaws, The Empire Strikes Back, Wonder Woman and ET: The Extra-terrestrial at a special price of $5 every day except Tuesday, when tickets are $2.99. Landmark said in the news release that the company has implemented additional health and safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including reducing available seating, reducing the number of showtimes, floor markers for concession queues, and regular disinfection of auditoriums, seating surfaces, washrooms and common areas. The St. Albert and Spruce Grove locations in Edmonton, and the Eagle Ridge location in Fort Mcmurray are also reopening Friday. The Landmark Cinemas location in Airdrie will reopen July 3.
