Woman charged in killing of Siksika man in Gleichen

RCMP have arrested and charged a woman with manslaughter following the death of a man in Gleichen on Tuesday.

Rebecca Ann Yvette Raweater, 33, of Siksika Nation has been charged with manslaughter in the death of 53-year-old Danny Junior Eagle Child, also of Siksika Nation.

RCMP would not say if the two knew each other.

Early Tuesday evening, police were called to reports of an assault on Main Street and 4th Avenue in Gleichen, 90 kilometres east of Calgary. EMS arrived shortly thereafter to attend to Eagle Child, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday but RCMP could not speak to the results of the final report.

Raweater is currently in custody and is set to appear in Siksika Nation Provincial Court on July 2.

Police are not seeking any further persons in this case.
