Phan­tom of the Opera set for TV

The pro­duc­ers of Net­flix’s drug drama Nar­cos will de­velop the novel The Phan­tom of the Opera for the small screen. French pro­duc­tion com­pany Gau­mont is in the early stages of adapt­ing Gas­ton Ler­oux’s story into a six-part TV minis­eries. Writer An­thony Horowitz will reimag­ine the dark ro­mance, which cen­tres on a dis­fig­ured com­poser who falls for singer Chris­tine Daaé. Phan­tom has been adapted for screen mul­ti­ple times, in­clud­ing a 1925 silent film and a 2004 ver­sion star­ring Emmy Ros­sum and Ger­ard But­ler.
