Phantom of the Opera set for TV
The producers of Netflix’s drug drama Narcos will develop the novel The Phantom of the Opera for the small screen. French production company Gaumont is in the early stages of adapting Gaston Leroux’s story into a six-part TV miniseries. Writer Anthony Horowitz will reimagine the dark romance, which centres on a disfigured composer who falls for singer Christine Daaé. Phantom has been adapted for screen multiple times, including a 1925 silent film and a 2004 version starring Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler.
