LIB­ER­ALS PLEDGE $300 MIL­LION TO FIGHT VIRUS ABROAD

Prime Min­is­ter Justin Trudeau said Canada will con­trib­ute $300 mil­lion to­ward the in­ter­na­tional ef­fort to bat­tle COVID-19. Trudeau an­nounced the new funds Satur­day in a vir­tual in­ter­na­tional fundraiser — this one spon­sored by Global Cit­i­zen, which is try­ing to raise $42.8 bil­lion. Of the $300 mil­lion, $120 mil­lion will go to­ward an ini­tia­tive called the Ac­cess to COVID-19 Tools Ac­cel­er­a­tor, cre­ated by the World Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion and oth­ers to en­sure eq­ui­table ac­cess to med­i­cal treat­ments.
