NEW CONDOS

Mckinney opts for bright, airy living

- JOSH SKAPIN

With Calgary said to be the sunniest city in Canada, it only makes sense for homes to be designed to take advantage of those steady rays.

The size and placement of windows make a substantial difference in the look and feel of a home.

People who value a home that captures and spreads natural light will appreciate the Mckinney by Stepper Homes. This three-bedroom, 1,404-square-foot townhome is displayed as a show home in the south Calgary community of Wolf Willow.

Its design leaves little reason for anyone to reach for the light switch before sundown. Both ends of the main level, which features an open-concept design, boast substantial sources of natural light.

The front-facing window in the great room, side wall window in the foyer, and transom window over the door are an effective combination. Moreover, three windows in the dining area fill the space with sunlight.

The dining area, itself, is a highlight. Measuring 11 feet five inches by 12 feet eight inches, it fits a table that sits at least six people, with room to circulate. By taking advantage of the open concept for additional space, one can use a table with a leaf to accommodate larger gatherings, such as holiday celebrations, short-term.

Additional seating is available

at the eating bar on a large island in the central kitchen. The island is also part of an overall commitment to kitchen storage. There’s a generous volume of cabinets and a pantry, limiting the potential for clutter.

This functional cooking space also captures attention with an elegant full-height backsplash and stainless steel appliances, including an over-the-range microwave.

The second level format is ideal for a young family. There’s a spacious front-facing master bedroom and two similarly sized secondary bedrooms positioned side by side along the back.

The master bedroom’s exterior wall features a well-sized window and a portion that boxes out, elevating its visual interest.

There’s also walk-in closet, along with ensuite with a tub/shower combination, and vanity with considerable counter space under a full-width mirror.

This model also offers an option for a dual master bedroom configuration.

Outdoor living is also a key consideration. It has a full landscaping package, rear patio, and double detached garage.

Unlike conventional townhomes, this development is freehold, meaning the buyer owns and is responsible for the exterior of their home and the land it sits on.

Wolf Willow is a new master-planned community by Westcreek Developments, the same developer behind Legacy, an award-winning community located nearby.

The community, planned to include a future dog park, is located near the scenic Bow River and Fish Creek Provincial Park.

People who golf will appreciate its convenient proximity to Blue Devil Golf Club.
