LUXE MANOR UP FOR AUCTION
`Exquisite' estate in Springbank
A 10-bedroom Calgary-area estate home from the designer behind the Four Seasons Hotel is going up for auction.
Reaching 17,610 square feet, Terre Blanche is a stately French Country manor that is currently offered for $9.83 million.
Bids for the home in a no-reserve auction will be accepted now to Nov. 30 through Concierge Auctions' online marketplace. This is in co-operation with listing agent Mark D. Evernden of Century 21 Bamber Realty.
On what sets this home apart, Concierge Auctions project sales manager Ian Johnson highlights the “quality of finishing and level of detail.”
“Every room has unique characteristics,” he adds. “You get in and say, `this is exquisite.'”
These spaces are from the mind of famed designer Arthur Fishman. Along with the Four Seasons, his work includes luxury estates, yachts and jets in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Asia.
The home is on 2.62 acres (1.06 hectares) at 25130 Escarpment Ridge View, south of Springbank Road. Featuring a six-car garage, the home has four levels, including two above grade, a walkout basement and sub-basement. There's an elevator that reaches every level of the home.
Seven bedrooms are on the second storey and the other three are located on the walkout basement level. Each bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in closet.
The master bedroom and its adjoining spaces create an upscale 1,200-square-foot retreat. From the bedroom itself, there's a private balcony with sweeping sight lines.
“I'm not a realtor, but my understanding is from the realtors that I have talked to is there are not a lot of views like this,” Johnson says of the location's natural beauty.
Depending on the window, this home provides views of the Rocky Mountains.
The bedroom has a fireplace with a seating area, breakfast bar, and striking tray-style ceiling design. Its elegant ensuite boasts a 14-karat gold sink with rose quartz fixtures, stand-alone tub and glass shower.
The home also has several uncommon spaces that set it apart.
Among them are a home theatre with 12 leather seats and stylish Art Deco details, and a half-length hardwood basketball court that can support volleyball and badminton matches as well.
Wine lovers will appreciate its California redwood temperature-controlled cellar that can hold 1,250 bottles.
For a place to be productive or to curl up with a good book, there's a luxurious oval library that links to two offices and a reading or cigar room with an antique fireplace.
The home has six fireplaces, including one in its two-storey great room. This towering gathering space has a cathedral ceiling with visual interest elevated by wood timbers.
Another focal point is a striking staircase with an elegant iron railing that connects the main and second floors.
The kitchen features upscale appliances, including a six-burner gas range and eye-catching vent hood, custom cabinets and a spacious island with an eating bar. There's a large butler's pantry with a walk-in cooler, as well.
Outside, the home, highlighted by a brick and Kentucky limestone exterior, has several desirable amenities. These include a heated outdoor kitchen, all-season gazebo and upscale circle drive with a New Orleans fountain.
