Avalanches likely on B.C.'S backcountr­y slopes

Avalanche Canada is urging caution on backcountr­y mountains because of weak snowpack layers. Avalanches are possible in the Purcell and Cariboo ranges and slopes around the Sea-to-Sky region north of Vancouver. Sunday saw human-triggered avalanches in the Cariboo west of Jasper, and Monday on Rainbow Mountain, near Whistler, where a skier was completely buried but was rescued.
