KONEKT INGLEWOOD OFFERS CONVENIENT CONDO LIVING

Modern homes in an eclectic area will appeal to a variety of buyers

Katy and Cheryl Takaoka have fond memories of their time living in the London, Ont., neighbourhood of Wortley.

They liked that it was established, well-connected and had an eclectic selection of places to shop and eat.

The couple — who moved to Calgary about a year ago after 12 years in Ontario — decided they wanted a location that captured these qualities. That led them to the historic community of Inglewood.

“It's got the same neighbourly vibe, lots of independent business, very walkable, close to lots of parks and amenities and things like that,” says Katy, who grew up in Calgary.

Here, the couple found a fit at Konekt Inglewood by Streetside Developments.

This single building development, featuring modern exterior architecture, is planned for 104 condos with prices starting in the low $200,000s.

When the Takaokas moved to Calgary, the initial plan was to find something in the short-term that was affordable and close to Katy's job, before deciding where to put down roots permanently.

“It's a bit further away (from my job) but it was a sacrifice that I was willing to make, No.1 because I miss that whole vibe of the neighbourhood we lived in before and No. 2 because neither of us drive — it has excellent public transit access, so it makes getting to work easy,” she adds.

Getting to know their neighbourhood, Katy and Cheryl have already had the chance to explore and enjoy some of the local businesses.

“I'm a knitter so obviously the first place I checked out was Stash Lounge,” Katy says. “I love it in there.”

They 've also checked out Gorilla Whale and the Hose and Hound.

“I really enjoy all the shops in Inglewood,” says Cheryl. “There's the (Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery) nearby, parks nearby, the (Inglewood Bird Sanctuary) — that's all really close.”

The experience in this community, established in 1875, is different.

“Locally owned businesses are abundant throughout, while art displays, commissions, pop-up shops and exhibits provide a fresh feeling of expression and something new to look forward to as Inglewood continues to develop,” says Konekt area sales manager Jayce Rogers.

“These unique characteristics create a sense of adventure, as there is always something new to experience, or old favourites to re-explore,” he adds. “You truly feel like you are taken out of Calgary's hustle and bustle, and transported to an easier going place that never grows old, as you constantly find new favourites every time you walk the streets.”

First possessions at Konekt are expected to be available in early 2023.

The building offers six floor plans with one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den, and two-bedroom orientations in the mix. They range from 533 to 911 square feet.

“Konekt is an amazing opportunity for anyone in the condo market,” says Rogers, calling it a fit for a variety of demographics, such as first time homebuyers and “right-sizers.”

“Konekt's modern and open-concept floor plans are meticulous in their use of square footage, ensuring a customer is getting the most use and function from their home while also being paired with a higher end finishing, which would be an upgrade from most builders,” he adds.

The development is also “located in a secluded area of Inglewood, while still offering the most convenience and accessibility to all amenities, and ease of access to any major roadway.”

For the Takaokas, Konekt fell well within their budget.

Finding that sort of value within Inglewood “seemed kismet,” says Katy.

One of their favourite areas within their new home is the cooking space.

“The kitchen we have now is functional but it is very tiny,” says Cheryl. “We feel very enclosed in it. There's only really room for one person to be in the kitchen cooking.

“This is a much more open-concept kitchen in a larger space with a larger refrigerator and larger freezer,” she adds. “Plus, it's much more modern.”

Cheryl also lauds their condo's design for the way in which it will welcome a considerable level of natural light.

“It's an end unit and it's southwest-facing and has a wraparound balcony, so we still get to do some container gardening,” says Katy, adding the couple has experience growing herbs, carrots and daikon radish.

From this balcony, she adds, “There will be some good views, as well.”
