Alberta Big Brother contestant replaced
A 22-year-old from Banff has been replaced from the cast of Big Brother Canada less than a week before the ninth season was set to air on Global.
Ethan Quance was one of three Alberta “houseguests” set to compete on the long-running reality series, which premieres March 3. But on Friday, it was reported on the Twitter account for Big Brother Canada that a cast change had been made.
“Today, Global TV and Insight Productions were made aware of some significant concerns regarding an individual who has been announced as part of the Season 9 cast for Big Brother Canada. We take this information seriously and acknowledge the impact these concerns raise for both the production and those involved. While much of what has been brought to our attention remains unproven, we cannot proceed with casting this person and this individual will be replaced ahead of the season premiere,” the statement read.
Quance was not named in the tweets and the nature of the “significant concerns” was not revealed. In Quance's bio, he was described as an “easygoing and caring” line cook and extreme athlete with a “wild side” who wants to become a firefighter.
Kyle Moore, a 26-year-old unemployed hockey coach from Red Deer, was announced as a new cast member on Friday.
Also appearing in this season is 23-year-old Breydon White, an anthropology student from Calgary described as a “fierce competitor” who “will not only be there to stay but will be there to slay.”
Homeless support worker Beth Bieda, of Tomahawk, is 27 and a “country girl through and through” with “trauma training, physical strength and mental fortitude.”
The season premieres March 3 on Global, followed by new episodes three nights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The long-running Canuck version of the reality series, which began airing in 2013, has the houseguests cut off from the world and under the constant scrutiny of cameras as they compete for survival in the Big Brother Canada house.
