INDIGENOUS DESIGNERS IN FOCUS

A new documentary spotlights Indigenous architects determined to rebuild the future. From Earth to Sky features seven diverse artists who are promoting sustainability and fighting climate change, despite challenges in their past.

They include the first Indigenous architect in North America, Douglas Cardinal, shown, as well as the first woman architect in North America, Tammy Eagle Bull. Others include Wanda Dalla Costa,

Alfred Waugh and Brian Porter.

“We know that we have a powerful contribution to make to the human family,” says Cardinal. “We need to heal imminently the present imbalance created by the built environment and the horrendous damage done to our planet Earth.”

It debuts on National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, on Tvo.org, the TVO Docs Youtube channel and TVO Roku.
