Oscars change nomination rules
Next year's list of best picture Oscar nominations will feature 10 movies, rather than the recent rule that between five and 10 films could be nominated. The board of governors for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will also loosen eligibility requirements for streaming and video-on-demand movies released between March 1 and Dec. 31 this year. Plus, there are new guidelines regarding music eligibility — a project can now be nominated if it covers 35 per cent of a film, down from 60 per cent. The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Feb. 27.
