If you’re looking for some outdoor fun this summer, Revelstoke, B.C. is the ideal vacation destination.

Tourism Revelstoke marketing and destination director Meghan Tabor says the community was named a “must do” on National Geographic’s Ultimate Adventure Bucket list. “We’re definitely world renowned as an adventure destination in winter, but in the summer, we’re still somewhat undiscovered.” she says.

Hiking and mountain biking are two of the most popular activities during a summer visit to Revelstoke. Mountain bike trail systems are located in four distinct areas, and there are also a growing number of trails at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

The community is on the doorstep of both Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks, two of the quieter national parks in Canada.

Hiking trails lead into the high alpine in Glacier National Park, while Mount Revelstoke National Park offers the amazing Meadows in the Sky Parkway, which allows people to drive to the summit and hike easy trails while viewing the fantastic displays of wildflowers.

“We also have a really great array of other activities that you can enjoy at any level, both for thrill seekers and also a softer side of those for families,” says Tabor.

That includes whitewater rafting, rock climbing, ATV tours, aerial adventures and much more — many of them offered by local guiding companies that have familyfriendly options.

“Hiring a guide is a great way to make the most of your experience. You save time with the planning, they’re going to show you the sweet spots, and they will definitely give you a safe introduction to something new.”

Families can also enjoy activities at Revelstoke Mountain Resort or head up to Lake Revelstoke to canoe, kayak or try stand up paddle boarding.

Revelstoke has a variety of accommodations from boutique hotels to hostels, and a great culinary scene that allows people to create a perfect vacation getaway.

To make it even easier to enjoy Revelstoke this summer, businesses have teamed up to offer the Revelstoke Adventure Pass. Stay two or more nights at a participating accommodation provider and book direct to receive a voucher that can be applied towards an outdoor adventure booking.

“It offers a pretty significant discount on some of our most popular adventures,” says Tabor. “You’ll have your accommodation booked and your activities lined up — so you can just relax and enjoy your holiday.”

To receive the Revelstoke Adventure Pass, bookings must be done in advance through seerevelstoke.com/ revelstoke-adventure-pass.
